Wine tasting in Eger

The beautiful baroque town of Eger is probably most famous for its legendary Bull's Blood of Eger (Egri Bikavér in Hungarian), the best-known Hungarian red wine.
Bull's Blood is a cuvée, based on Kékfrankos and two or three other red grapes. There are also some good fresh white wines in this wine region. The most planted grapes are Kékfrankos (Blue Frankish), Kadarka, Kékoportó, Merlot, Hárslevelű, Chardonnay, Királyleányka.
When visiting Eger, you have to taste the new quality white cuvée wine, Egri Csillag (Eger Star or Star of Eger), too. There are many wine festivals and celebrations throughout the year in Eger, where you can besides drinking fine wines, taste local Hungarian cuisine, enjoy traditional folk dancing, even try the steps and buy local handicrafts.
Eger is only a 30 minute-drive from Erzsébet Park Hotel, so you can't miss a wine tasting program during your stay with us. It's not even necessary to drive your car, there's a domestic bus service (Volánbusz) between the hotel and the town of Eger.
